Jess & Lauren

Stanmer Park, Brighton

Jess and Lauren chose the beautiful Stanmer Park in the Sussex Downs, just outside Brighton, for their engagement shoot, and were treated to a true summer scorcher with temperatures soaring above 30°C. Despite the heat, it was a relaxed and joyful session in one of the South Downs’ most versatile and scenic locations.

Stanmer Park holds a special place for Jess, who visited here often as a child, making it an especially meaningful choice for their engagement photographs. With its rolling open hills, shaded woodland paths, and historic walled gardens, the park offered a wide variety of backdrops that suited this lovely couple perfectly.

I’ve known Jess since her time as a student at Arts University Bournemouth, where I previously photographed her during her dance degree, so it was incredibly special to see her now so perfectly matched with Lauren. Their connection together was effortless and genuine, making the shoot an absolute pleasure from start to finish.

As we explored the park, we also spent time chatting about their upcoming wedding at Merley House in Wimborne, with plans clearly coming together beautifully. It was wonderful to hear how excited they both are for their big day.

Despite the intense heat, the session was full of laughter, calm moments, and natural connection, and Stanmer Park provided the perfect setting for such a memorable engagement shoot.

Paula & Mike

Stour Valley Nature Reserve, Bournemouth

For their engagement shoot, Paula and Mike chose a location close to their hearts—the beautiful Stour Valley Nature Reserve, just five minutes from their home. Familiar surroundings can often make for the most relaxed photographs, and this riverside setting provided the perfect backdrop for a wonderful afternoon together.

Having known Paula for over ten years and worked with her on photography for her hair and make-up business, it was especially lovely to see this next chapter in her life unfold. It was also a great opportunity to get to know Mike much better and hear all about their plans for the wedding day.

From the moment we started walking through the reserve, it was clear how naturally Paula and Mike fit together. The strength of their relationship shone through in every interaction, making our job incredibly easy. The winding riverside paths, wooden bridges, and calm water reflections created plenty of opportunities for beautiful, natural photographs along the way.

As an added bonus, nature treated us to a special moment when I caught sight of the reserve's elusive kingfisher, flashing its brilliant teal-blue plumage as it darted across the water. It was the perfect finishing touch to a relaxed and enjoyable engagement shoot with a genuinely lovely couple.

Jazz & Stu

Rockford Sandpit, New Forest, Hampshire

Jazz and Stu chose the unique setting of Rockford Sandpit in the New Forest for their engagement shoot, and it proved to be the perfect location for a relaxed evening of photography. Located near Ringwood, the sandpit's steep-sided landscape creates a striking backdrop that feels quite different from anywhere else in the forest.

From the sandpit, we explored the surrounding heathland and woodland during the golden hour, making the most of the beautiful evening light. Although the weather was chilly, Jazz and Stu came wrapped up warm and embraced the experience. The conditions were perfect for photography, with soft golden light filtering through the landscape and even the moon making a special appearance in some of the images.

As always, the engagement shoot gave Kenny and I the chance to get to know the couple better ahead of their wedding day. We loved hearing about their exciting plans to marry abroad, travelling with a close group of family and friends to Pisa before spending two days celebrating together in the Tuscan countryside. It would also become our first destination wedding, making it an especially exciting event for everyone involved.

Most importantly, the session gave Jazz and Stu the opportunity to relax in front of the camera, helping them build confidence and feel comfortable ahead of their wedding. By the end of the evening, we were even more excited to join them on their Italian adventure.

Alex & George

Wiverley Enclosure, New Forest, Hampshire

With their wedding day just two months away, Alex and George chose Wiverley Enclosure in the New Forest, Hampshire, for their engagement shoot. Taking place during the golden hour of a chilly but beautiful early March evening, the session captured the natural beauty of the woodland and the excitement building ahead of their wedding.

Engagement shoots are always a great opportunity for Kenny and I to get to know our couples better, and it was lovely spending time with Alex and George while hearing more about their plans for their ceremony at the BCP Council Chambers and celebrations afterwards at The Pear in Parley.

Wiverley provided a fantastic backdrop, with woodland paths and beautifully shaped trees creating plenty of opportunities for relaxed and natural photographs. As the evening unfolded, Alex and George quickly got into the spirit of the shoot, sharing lots of laughter and even giving each other a piggy-back ride, which made for some wonderfully fun images.

The session helped us plan for their big day while giving the couple the chance to feel more comfortable in front of the camera. We left even more excited to photograph their wedding just a few weeks later.

Lola & Alex

St Catherine’s Hill, Winchester, Hampshire

Choosing a location with personal meaning always adds something special to an engagement shoot, and for Lola and Alex there was nowhere more fitting than St Catherine’s Hill in Winchester, Hampshire. Although they now call the Bournemouth area home, Winchester is where their story began, making this iconic hilltop setting the perfect place to celebrate the next chapter of their journey together.

The day was warm and bright, with a gentle layer of cloud softening the sunlight and creating beautiful conditions for photography. Dressed in elegant white linen, Lola and Alex looked effortlessly stylish, complementing the natural beauty of the landscape around them. The climb up St Catherine’s Hill was certainly steep—and carrying cameras to the summit provided a little extra challenge—but the breathtaking panoramic views across Winchester made every step worthwhile.

One of the reasons Kenny and I love photographing at St Catherine’s Hill is the incredible variety it offers. From open grassland and rolling countryside views to secluded pathways and dramatic skylines, every corner presents a new photographic opportunity.

As we explored the hill together, we spent time getting to know Lola and Alex better and hearing more about their upcoming wedding at Sopley Mill. We also worked through a variety of natural poses and relaxed stances, helping them feel comfortable and confident in front of the camera ahead of their big day. By the end of the session, we were even more excited to document what promises to be a truly wonderful wedding celebration.

Hannah & Pete

Linford Bottom, New Forest, Hampshire

We always enjoy exploring new locations with our couples, and Hannah and Pete’s engagement shoot at Linford Bottom in the New Forest was a wonderful way to spend a spring afternoon. Situated on the edge of Ringwood, this beautiful Hampshire location follows a gently winding stream through a valley, framed by woodland on either side and offering a peaceful natural setting for relaxed pre-wedding photography.

Recent rain had left parts of the path a little muddy, but that only added to the fun. Navigating puddles and slippery sections together created plenty of genuine laughter and natural moments, helping Hannah and Pete relax in front of the camera while making the experience feel more like a countryside walk than a photoshoot.

As with all our engagement sessions, the time spent together allowed Kenny and I to get to know the couple better ahead of their wedding day. It was lovely hearing about their plans for their upcoming celebration at The Old Vicarage in Hinton Admiral and learning more about their journey together.

Although the skies remained cloudy throughout the shoot, the soft, diffused light was perfect for photography, creating beautiful, flattering portraits without harsh shadows. Most importantly, we had a fantastic time with Hannah and Pete and left feeling even more excited to capture their wedding day later this year.

Maria & Jason

Pamphill Wood, Wimborne, Dorset

Spring is one of our favourite times of year for engagement photography, and our pre-wedding shoot with Maria and Jason among the beautiful bluebells of Pamphill, near Wimborne, Dorset, was a perfect example of why. Nestled within the National Trust protected woodlands, Pamphill provided a stunning natural backdrop as we enjoyed a relaxed walk together through carpets of vibrant spring flowers.

For Kenny and I, engagement sessions are about so much more than photographs. They give us the opportunity to get to know our couples better before the wedding day, and it was wonderful to hear all about Maria and Jason’s plans for their upcoming celebration at the Royal Bath Hotel in Bournemouth.

During the shoot, we spent time practising a variety of natural poses and relaxed interactions, helping both Maria and Jason feel comfortable and confident in front of the camera ahead of their wedding. Although the weather was overcast, the soft cloud cover created beautifully even light, allowing us to capture flattering, shadow-free images throughout the woodland setting.

We left the session even more excited for their big day and cannot wait to document the next chapter of their story when they tie the knot in Bournemouth.
